Santa's Postbox

As part of a festive installation in Dundrum Shopping Centre, we created an interactive Santa’s Postbox experience for children. Kids could write a letter to Santa, drop it in the postbox, pull a lever, and watch as their message was “digitised” and sent to the North Pole—complete with lights, sound effects, motorised elements, and animated visuals. I was responsible for designing and building the entire technical system behind the experience. This included integrating a range of components such as strip lights, hazard lights, screens, motors, buttons, levers, and audio triggers into a reliable, sequenced performance triggered by the lever pull. The system had to run autonomously and consistently throughout the full four-month installation, delivering the same magical moment for every visitor. This project combined playful storytelling with complex automation and hardware integration, designed to hold up to continuous public use in a high-traffic environment.
